Solutions chapter 2 - Solution manual An Introduction to Reliability and Maintainability Engineering.

An Introduction to Reliability and Maintainability Engineering. Solutions chapter 2 - Solution manual An Introduction to Reliability and Maintainability Engineering. 42. Solution Manual " Ebeling. 41. 27.

Every student of reliability and every reliability improvement professional should have this book at their fingertips. This is an outstanding text on the fundamentals of reliability and maintainability. It is clearly written and focuses not only on the concepts of reliability but also on their application. The Excel templates provided with the book greatly assist in the learning process by doing the tedious computations. - Paul J. Fields, Brigham Young University. The text is well organized and readable. The problems are appropriate in terms of quantity and difficulty.

Maintainability Engineering: As part of the maintainability analysis, critical to its undertaking, is the importance that detection and isolation is accurately reflected in the overall Mean Time To Repair calculations. Logistics Engineering: For each failure mode occurrence a resulting corrective maintenance task would be implemented. Of equal importance, in the development of Preventative Maintenance tasks through a Reliability Centre Maintenance approach the FMEA/ FMECA plays a significant supporting role.

Charles Ebeling An Introduction To Reliability and Maintainability Engineering McGraw Hill (1996).

Many textbooks on reliability focus on either modeling or statistical analysis and require an extensive background in probability and statistics on the part of the reader. Continuing its tradition as an introductory text for readers with limited formal education in the subject, this classroom-tested text introduces the necessary concepts in probability and statistics within the context of their application to reliability. The second edition s increased breadth of coverage includes new reliability models and updated information on failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) to reflect its more recent implementation. Many additional exercises and mini-cases have also been added. Moreover, the accompanying CD provides both software that follows the methodology of the text and several Excel templates, saving students from performing numerous tedious calculations and allowing them to focus on reliability concepts. Ebeling has created an exceptional text that enables readers to learn how to analyze failure, repair data, and derive appropriate models for reliability and maintainability as well as apply those models to all levels of design. The handbook edited by prof. Ebeling is a good resource to introduce the reliability problems.
The book has a mathematical structure, with very detailed demostrations of relations and formulas. However, differently from the main books treating the argument, Ebeling introduces a large number of solved exercises with practical cases.
However, the text, for me, it has two limitations. One minor and one major.
The first one is the absence to references to international standards of reliability (IEC 61508, IEC 61511, EN ISO 13849-1, etc.). But this is not very important.
The second one is most important: at the end of every chapter are suggested a lot of number of exercise WITHOUT solution. The solution manual is not available, for consultants, designers and engineers outside of academia, even for a fee. This is a ENORMOUS limit of the text, because most of the exercises have implications for the solution of technical and practical cases. And without these solutions, the text lacks a very important part, useful for all readers who use it for work, outside the University.

I already had some reliability related books and was intrigued by the claim of this one being more practical info. I didn't really feel this was the case after glancing through the book. I already own Accelerated Testing: A Practitioner's Guide to Accelerated And Reliability Testing by Dodson & Schwab. I found "Accelerated Testing..." more readable and applicable to learning about reliability and various models used in performing accelerated testing. Had the publisher allowed viewing inside the book online, i probably would have figured out it wasn't what it's cracked up to be. Amazon, as always, graciously let me return it.

This is one of the best written reliability books published. It is a great handbook for the practitioner, and an even better book for the novice. It should make a great addition to any Electrical, Mechanical, or Reliability Engineer's bookshelf. If someone is preparing for ASQ's Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) Exam, this is one of the three books they should own. My only complaint is that it does not address R&M of production systems, which is where most other texts fall short.

This book was as syllabus requirement and we did not use it at all during the semester except for one week where we read one chapter out this entire book. For the money spent for it, we sure did not make great use of it. This book was hard to understand because there are just a bunch of words that probably have no meaning if you have no clue what the subject matter is about. The print is extremely small as well. Maybe that is why we did not use it very much in class. However, I am using it as a reference for my thesis as it does contain some good content on reliability. I have been reading it off and on but I will have to tackle the chapters in several settings at a time because if I read too much of it at one time I will find it boring and get nothing out of it. This is a good reference book but I don't recommend it for a syllabus requirement for a semester class if it will not be read from beginning to end.

Though it is really a text book, it is also a great reference book. Problems at the end of the chapter can be worked to help the user grasp the theories and applications the book teaches.

One of the best book which makes us know in detail about the product reliability
