All the books in this great series are useful tools for bible study. Barclay presents his analysis of scripture in a way that the casual Bible reader can understand. These are not books for theologians. There is no complicated analysis of multiple theories.

Instead, he gives insight into the original Greek in a practical, down to earth style. The revised editions are even easier to read than the older ones that used a lot of language more familiar to residents of the British Isles than Americans. The newer editions are more universal in their language.

I highly recommend getting these on Kindle and using them with the Kindle app. It makes it easy to take them to Bible study.

Missed having a bit of background on Galatians Church Would have appreciated that more than several Forwards--three Forwards really cumbersome. Not like Barclay's detailed commentaries in his day

Every book of the New Daily Study Bible series by William Barclay deserves a five star rating for doing what each commentary is designed to do. I have used Ephesians to teach a class and it is clearly written and helpful for the lay teacher as well as pastors an religious educators alike. According to the level of the class members it can well serve as a study book for each.

I bought a set of these to give to my Sunday School teachers for a series we were doing on Galatians. They were an instant hit, and both the serious scholars and those who just read and think found them accessible and enlightening appreciated them. Barclay is a gem who can make scholarship accessible and understandable to nearly everyone.
I enjoy these books so very much. The author explains the Greek that was used in Paul's time, how the history of the Christian church at that time related to the material Paul is writing about and most important the understanding that God wanted Paul to give us.
