In the Imagination of Pentecost, Richard Leviton, a reporter, scholar, clairvoyant, takes us on a probing journey into the mind of Rudolf Steiner. Carlo Pietzner speaks, out of his own ego-directed, inner experiences, about several motifs inherent to inner striving: the problem of self in relationship to the world, the disintegration of the three soul forces, the transition from sense perception to spiritual perception, the reality of evil, the condition of loneliness, and more.

He broke from the Theosophical Society when Annie Besant began speaking of a new world teacher and when Steiner's own clairvoyant insights seemed to contradict certain Theosophical concepts. His own ideas were also solidly rooted in the Christian mythos more than in the Eastern tradition on which Theosophy draws.

He has taught in the graduate programs at Ubiquity University's Wisdom School.

I am only up to page 155 and think this book is outstanding and comprehensive in the light of Anthroposophic Spiritual Science. I do however have some issue with "We must be careful here lest we outrage the astrophysicists; by Sun, Steiner did not mean the physical star", etc.) I believe Steiner meant it quit literally that the whole Cosmos has what is called etheric and astral components and beings living upon them . Our physical being (a microcosm) ,when it becomes clairvoyant , remembers these as facts. That Cosmic stuff -the macrocosm- is us and not something merely 'out there' as a material substance. Steiner s Cosmology delves far deeper than Hermetic science as it is taught classically. The Sun in fact has beings that act upon the earth far in the past and now and in the future. That is not metaphor or analogy as Richard seems to imply.

The book was in better shape than stated and arrived quickly. The material in the book is gripping and enlightening.

Leviton has done his research, summarizing some rarely summarized key concepts with clarity, however, every few pages, the writing seems to get bogged down in a kind of redundancy that can make the going slow.

Anyone who has managed to work their way through Rudolf Steiner's metaphysical opus, Occult Science, or his Philosophy of Freedom will appreciate the depth and complexity of Leviton's research. They may not agree with it. It would be challenging for someone to read Imagination of Pentecost without a background in Anthroposophy. Those who want 'proof' or easy confirmation of their own beliefs must look elsewhere. This work is truly original.

Lovers of the writing of Valentin Tomberg, a seer who brought his own insights to Steiner's vision, will likely enjoy this rich study. Like Tomberg, Leviton does not base his testimony solely on an exhaustive study of Steiner's writings and lectures. His detailed and authoritative presentation is also based on years of frequent and thoughtful discussions and clairvoyant initiation with an angelic hierarchy, the Ofanim. We may wonder why they chose Leviton, but he has proven his ability to communicate ideas that are difficult to comprehend.
In any case, much is explained. This book is a metaphysical masterwork for those who not only want to know, but to understand the meaning of human destiny, past, present, and future. This book, like Leviton's autobiographical, What's Beyond That Star, is essential for an deeper understanding of his more recent works on visionary geography.

This book provides a wonderful overview and condensation of the important threads in Rudolf Steiners writings. If you are interested in getting the gist of what Steiner was talking about in all those tomes he wrote then by all means get this book and make it easy on yourself. Also brings to light where current spiritual ideas (ie. channeling) fit in to the overall sceme of human evolution. There are too many amazing ideas to go into here but I can say this is a fantastic book! The best "Steiner" book I have read.
