Thank you, bodesoda! This book looks quite intriguing. I think I may use it as a template, answering the questions in a separate book. That way I can send the book on when I'm done, so another bookcrosser can benefit from it as well

Looks like a great project to start at the beginning of a new year :-) Journal Entry 4 by rainbowbabe from West Chester, Pennsylvania USA on Wednesday, April 05, 2006.

The never-ending process of self-discovery requires the full participation of the seeker, yet many books on the topic are directed at their audience instead of directing them inward. This workbook encourages users to not only think and visualize but write, draw, color, paint, cut, and paste their way through exercises on money, body image, relationships, work and play, past and future, and more. Many are suitable for children as well as adults.

This big definitely makes you take a new, positive perspective on your life, and your journey. The workbook combines writing, drawing among other creative venues to help you dig a bit deeper into who you are, and what you want. Some of the activities take longer than others, and really depends on how much effort and time you're willing to give. Several activities can be done in one day. The questions posed are fairly simple, but the way each activity is tied together makes them more complex as a whole. While I have not completed the workbook, I do enjoy the activites, and feel more intropective from what I have completed.

The book is fairly thin, less than 1/2 inch thick. Very much like any other workbook you would have had in school. The paper inside is not noticibly thin, but markers and some pens do bleed through, but not enough to make the opposit pages unusable.

While the author makes it known that your drawings, writings ect. don't have to be perfect, if you do not have a creative side, or do not enjoy doodling and writing, this probably isn't the book for you.

I bought this workbook and began the exercises immediately. Funny thing... my very first thought was, "this book is too nice to actually use, so I will do the work on other paper so I can keep the book nice." Yep! Lesson #1.. right out of the gate :) I had clothes in the closet I wouldn't wear because they were too nice to use.. etc. and so forth. You get the idea. In addition, I was teaching at-risk youth at the time and used many of the exercises with my students. Cheri Huber is a gift to us all and I am grateful for her work in my life! Profound!

This large (8 1/2 x 11")self help workbook takes you through writing and drawing exercises to assist in exploring your inner self. The handwritten (childlike?) font conveys an informal, relaxing, comfortable, feel to the book, without taking away from the professional strength. 163 pages of insightful questions and prompts that encourage you to express your feelings through writing and drawing.
I also recommend books by SARK, a self help artist/author, known for her artistic and playful self help books. She has highlighted Cheri Huber in her earlier books.
As an author and a Nurse, I highly recommend this informative self-help workbook for anyone wishing to explore their feelings.

I work as a therapist at a high school and use this as activity worksheets for my sessions with my teens! They are a great, easy, interesting way to get adolescents to begin to look inward and find some insight. I recommend to any adolescent therapists out there!

A good tool for self- expression and recognition of your personality, preferences and needs. Ideal for someone who likes to sketch, draw or express him/her self in art. Good form of "self-care" and expressing unique characteristics.

I love using this book as handouts with my clients. I work with children in foster care, and many of these pages are fantastic tools to get to know them better, enhance engagement and increase self-awareness. My colleagues and I have lots of tools to engage younger children, but sometimes our teenagers are very difficult to get going with. Page 57, "Answer these quickly without 'thinking'" has never failed me and I love the unique, honest and thoughtful answers even my most resistant clients throw out at me. Some activities are pretty advanced, so you'll have to gauge what your client will be able to understand, but overall, this book has been a invaluable resource.

This book is a great resource for re-discovery the self and exploring your conditioning. It is loaded with practical exercises that really will help you to make your life better. It can be used as a resource along with counseling or it can stand alone. It is largely based on modern cognitive therapeutic methods that have proven effective and does not push a particular religious orientation although Cheri Huber is a Buddhist and founded a monastery. She is also a woman who has helped many people including herself and certainly has the credibility to put out good material. Very highly recommended for pre-teens, teens and adults. Her other books are very good as well and she has a Self Acceptance audio course that would be a wonderful accompaniment to this book. If you are not working with a counselor, I would recommend getting both to reinforce the ideas and help you to put them into practice. Change is possible, but it isn't always easy!
If you are looking to take a personal journal journey with a Zen based guide, this is a the workbook for you. Very helpful book that will guide you through some great exercises. I've used it for years for counseling clients with great results.
