She was cold-oh, so terribly, horribly cold. She could barely breathe and her body wouldn’t stop shaking. Something covered her face.

She was cold-oh, so terribly, horribly cold. She reached up to pull it away and then tried to sit up, but she. Terror began to build as she lay there and wondered where she was. She’d never experienced such bone-chilling cold-or such absolute darkness-or such total silence. Panic-stricken, Emma’s hands groped her surroundings. Her fingers touched cold, wet ice. It was all around her. Freezing her. Devouring her. She whimpered and strained to see through the blackness

NIGHT JOURNEY is a work of fantasy and historical fiction. Apart from the well-known actual people, events and locales that figure in the narative, all names, characters, places and incidents are the product of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously.

NIGHT JOURNEY is a work of fantasy and historical fiction. Any resemblance to current events or locales, or to living persons, is entirely coincidental.

Goldie Browning has changed all that. I LOVED Night Journey. There's plenty of mystery and political machinations to satisfy the hard core like me.

A ROMANTIC WEEKEND GONE WRONG America’s most haunted hotel, a spooky ghost tour with a visit to a former morgue, and a family wedding—all the ingredients for a fun-filled weekend. Emma and Zan Fuller have never been to the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas—at least not in this lifetime. But the ghosts that haunt the former cancer hospital remember Emma, and they won’t rest until she’s joined them once again. When a bizarre accident almost claims her life, her soul is catapulted backward in time to 1938. Things get even worse while she lies comatose, however, because she is now a target for an organ transplant scheme. STAR CROSSED LOVERS It’s Depression Era 1938 when Ivy Turner meets Harry Fuller. Love happens quickly, but they’ll never live happily ever after if her parents have their way. Despite their objections, the couple elopes. Wedded bliss soon turns to despair, however, when Harry is arrested and Ivy is sent to the Baker Cancer Hospital. But Ivy doesn’t have cancer. She’s pregnant with Harry’s child—the child who will someday become Zan Fuller’s father. JOURNEY ACROSS TIME Emma wakes up, but not the way she’d expected. Her soul has entered the cancer-riddled body of a woman who had died only moments before. And to make matters worse, she’s trapped in time—it’s 1938. She’s back at the Crescent Hotel, which is now the Baker Cancer Hospital. The people who had once been simply characters in a ghost story are now living, breathing human beings. But Emma’s biggest worry is Zan’s grandmother, Ivy. If anything happens to her or her baby, Zan will never exist. Can Emma, imprisoned in a sick and dying body, rescue Ivy and Harry? Can Zan, in 2011, prevent the hospital administrator from ending her life support and harvesting her heart?

I love a great ghost story and this one tops the list. I admit, I bought the book because I was curious to see how the author merged time travel with a ghost story. To me, it seemed impossible, but by the end of the read I was yet again reminded of what a truly imaginative writer can accomplish. The main storyline was quite captivating. I read morning, noon and night to see how the heroine's life would be saved (spoiler alert). And the sub-plots were just as engaging. I won't spoil the sub-plots by sharing how they wrapped up but I will say the secondary characters made me laugh with their eccentricities and the spooky parts raised my hair but were not Halloween scary. Great suspense, fully developed characters, and a satisfying end equals five stars. This is a great read for readers of ghost stories, lovers of a good romance, and lovers of a great story told well.

History, romance, mystery, paranormal, time travel, past lives. This book has it all. And, some comedic relief sprinkled throughout. The story that the writer conveys takes the reader through time, while staying rooted in the present. Utilizing the rich history of the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and the surrounding area the writer skillfully crafted a fictional love story that was multilayered. As a reader of history I was particularly satisfied with the author's successful approach to weaving many historical facts into the storyline, thereby lending credibility to the time-frame the writer describes; I found myself looking up many of the historical aspects and in doing so broadened my own knowledge about those times/places/people (ie:CCC). This book would be a wonderful gift for Father's Day, a great read for that vacation at the beach this summer, an engrossing tale to take-in on a stormy night, or as in my case a fantastic way to spend my afternoon on my deck. One thing I will caution you on, though: be prepared to not be able to put it down 'cause it is a good old fashioned page turner, for sure!

Let's be honest; I am not a fan of ghost stories. "Night Journey" was recommended to me by someone with judgment that I trust so I gave it a try and was captured by the writing and the storyline. While I am not a fan of ghost stories, I do like time travel. I read time travel stories as a cynic, looking for errors in the space-time continuum. Most writers make them; Ms. Browning writes like she made the journey and is accurately reporting on what she saw. It was an all-together enjoyable ride and I recommended "Night Journey." Thanks to Ms. Browning I may have to reevaluate my thoughts on ghost stories as a genre. I look forward to her next book.

I had never read a ghost fiction before. I ordered it, because I know the author and wanted to see what sort of a book she had writte. I, who normally only read at bedtime, I read this book even during the day, which means I put everythig on hold in order to fiish the book. In other words, I could not put the book down. It is a real page turner. Night Jourey is one of the best and captivating books that I have ever read. Goldie, with her rich and vivid narration, has brought the supernatural world alive for the reader. I highly recommend this book to everybody, even to those who don't believe in the existance of ghosts.

Loved the book. Spent the night in room 218 at the Crescent this past summer. Michael didn't visit but got a strange photo of spirit outside our room on the porch. Took the ghost tour so I could relate to the .characters very easily
This is a haunted house story that creeps up on you and stays spooky and mysterious without jumping out at you and yelling "boo." It's a fine addition to the supernatural genre.
