I found my first copy at a church garage sale for 25 cents shortly after a difficult divorce. I devoured it twice. This book renewed my hope for a better tomorrow and took away the guilt and shame that can be put on individuals who choose to end a fruitless marriage. Reading his book was like getting a giant hug from God as it is full of His word, love, mercy and grace. The author has a formal style of writing and sometimes I would have to re-read portions just to make sure I was in full understanding of what he was communicating. Thought so highly of this book that I bought it for a friend who was struggling with guilt and shame from past mistakes. Really taught me to walk in grace and love my ex regardless of the hurt. Brave of the author to address such a fragile subject. So very glad he did! Entered my second marriage feeling God's blessing on my life : )
A look at the divorce-remarriage question from a Biblical perspective. (The author's, of course.) But the book takes a much wider look as the author explores the context for Jesus' comments on marriage/divorce, the overwhelming conclusion being that grace always trumps law. A thoughtful approach for those who realize that an attempt to impose a literalistic reading of all parts of the Bible is both impossible and irresponsible.
Send one of these books to my church. Most wouldn't read it and few would understand his logic. Too easy to parrot back Jesus' teaching during His tenure.
