if this were the first Lisa Jackson book I read.....I would not have ever read more........this book was horrible.....vampires.....really.....out of my realm...and the character Kristi Bentz is an obnoxious tween....although she is in her late twenties....she's selfish and prima donna like....I don't like her so since the book was about her.....I did not enjoy it! ........vampires and zombies are not a category I enjoy....they are ridiculous!

I started reading her books while I was laid up in the hospital for a couple weeks. They had a library within and I found her book Absolute Fear. I have been shocked and awed by her ever since! She has this uncanny knack of throwing in plot twists you'd never expect and the evil doers go by unnoticed by the reader till she reveals them! My grandmother always said the work of great murder mystery writers is always shown in how sick and twisted they can make their characters be. Plus she's added in quite a bit of factual pieces. Like Elizabeth of Bathory. One of my favorite serial killers in history. Her writing is gritty, real, and very sensual in some parts. I also love that you can pick her books up in the middle of the series and not only understand exactly what's been going with the characters since the series beginnings but also she doesn't give away past killers names or what they did so you CAN go back and read the earlier works but not know what's happened and who did what. Can't wait to start on Malice!!

This would have been better if it were more of a Bentz/Montoya book. This plot about Kristi Bentz reminds me of the Dr. Kay Scarpetta books with her superwoman niece Lucy. The reason why I stopped reading Patricia Cornwell's books. I'll try one more in this series before deciding.

She is so selfish, rude, obnoxious and thinks she don't need anyone . Rude to her father making him worry to the point that he puts his wife on the back burner. Don't like Kristis character

Sure wish Lisa would double space when she shifts the storyline. Once again , which good story and suspenseful!. However, I wish the characters would not keep doing things they know they shouldn't. There's nothing wrong with building suspense around characters not taking chances with their safety. For example, Kristi has too consistently failed to heed her better judgement about placing herself in harm's way. It gets a little old after two books worth. IJS! But overall another good read.

Lost Souls is not one of Lisa Jackson's best novels. The main plot is weakened by the introduction of minor characters. The novel drags by the author's misuse of attention to detail. At times, this reader was bored as Kristi Bentz continued as amateur sleuth at All Saints college amidst a vampiric theme. Not a true Rick Bentz/Reuben Montoya thriller. So disappointing.

Kristi Bentz is finally pursuing her ideal career. She wants to be a crime writer. In order to do that she's got to be in the thick of the case. Kristi Bentz has already been the target of two twisted serial killers but that hasn't stopped her from living. On the contrary, she enrolls in All Saints College in Baton Rouge where four girls have already gone missing. Her father, New Orleans Detective Rick Bentz warns her against going back to school at All Saints.

She doesn't listen. She arrives in Baton Rouge and throws herself into the middle of a creepy case where girls are going missing and secret cults are lurking. Normally romance and twisted psychopaths don't mix, but Lisa Jackson makes it work.

From the beginning to the end this book keeps you intrigued. It's a unique story and I've never read anything like it before. It's amazing how the author can mix the disgusting and sick aspects of the book with the gushy love story.

Just a warning, before buying this book: Lost Souls is filled with gory details and necrophilia. If this book had a movie rating, it would be XXX. This book is not for the faint hearted. Be prepared to quite literally jump into the mind of a serial killer.
Let me tell u. I really love Lisa Jackson. She is my all time favorite author. But...... she really needs to get some new ideas for story's! This book and the two before it was not great! I'm very disappointed ' I hope to get my favorite author back soon because something's terribly off lately. I won't give up on u Lisa but please stop repeating yourself in every story!! It's getting terribly old! Get new insight and continue being great. Thank u for all the wonderful reads Beth.N
