My own fault... I didn't look closely at the cover enough to realize this was three (very) short stories. There was only one "new" story I hadn't read. There other two I had already purchased with other Deb Baker books. Needless to say I was disappointed I wasn't getting a brand new "book-size" offering in the Gertie Johnson series. I'll look more closely next time. The short story that was new to me was okay... but my disappointment in yet another short story overwhelmed my enjoyment of the story.

Love, love, love these books by Deb Baker! I was looking for something a little different and gave this series of books a try. What a hoot Gertie is! I think this would be me as an older woman-lol. I am an avid mystery fan and the price was right, so there was nothing to lose. I lived in Michigan's UP for a short time when my brother was stationed there in the Air Force. It is kind of cool to read about places you are familiar with. These books are very entertaining and will make you laugh out loud.

If you are looking for a mystery series with a surplus of comedic antics...this is the series! I love Gertie...she's well over the "national speed limit" in age and searching for a way to get involved developing her natural abililty to "investigate" - which is so much stronger than her son's, the local sheriff. The stage is set for constant admonishment from her son...let's just say...she wins the stubborn contest. Her circle of friends make the story line hum with humor. Get a ticket to the UP and discover a wild and crazy series that we can thank Deb Baker for creating!

I was excited to see a new Gertie Johnson story as I love the stories. Imagine my disappointment when I started reading and realized I read this same book but under the title "Murder bites the Bullet" last year! I will be more concious of reading the summaries before buying more books. I feel cheated!
