Jim Hart, the St. Louis Cardinals quarterback, isn't a very colorful or interesting subject for a biography . Louis Cardinals quarterback, isn't a very colorful or interesting subject for a biography, and he's made less so in this ho-hum treatment, heavily salted with statistics, quotes from sportswriters, and unrevealing interviews. This almost game-by-game rehash of his career, from high school in Morton Grove, Illinois, to an NFL division championship season in 1974, surveys his up-and-down record-on one occasion St. Louis fans cheered when he was injured-and makes him almost an object of pity.

While there have been a growing number of players of African or minority descent throughout the history of collegiate and professional football, black players have historically faced difficulty in landing and retaining quarterback roles due to a number of factors
Chicago's defense won that Super Bowl in 1985. Underrated: 1. Dan Marino. Re-wrote the record books, one of the most dynamic quarterbacks of all time, yet everyone wants to talk about the fact that he never won a Super Bowl. What gives? Ted Williams never won a World Series but that never was a knock against him. 2. Jim Kelly. Great quarterback and leader

As Jim Kelly’s backup in Buffalo in the early 1990’s, Reich started the Bills’ wildcard game against Houston in January 1993. It is impossible to know what kind of career Reich would have had as a full-time starting quarterback. The Bills were behind by 32 points early in the third quarter. Reich lead a comeback that saw the Bills eventually beat the Oilers 41 - 38 in overtime. But, given his flashes of brilliance when he did play, the fact that he spent the majority of his career as a backup makes him, in my opinion, one of the most underrated NFL quarterbacks of all time
