My older grandchild and I read this book over and over until I had it memorized. I love the repetition of words of love, and think all babies and toddlers will love hearing them, especially while being cuddled in your lap. Babies especially like rhyme and rhythm, so this is a perfect book for about 6 months to 2 years.

My 11 month old insists on this book before each nap and at bedtime every day. It is fun to read, and I didn't have a problem finding a cadence. My infant has a big grin on her face the whole time I read it. This is the first book she has ever pulled off the shelf by herself, and the first time she's had an obvious preference. I can read her other books, but if I try to put her to bed without reading Baby Cakes, she gets frustrated and cries, reaching for the bookshelf! I'm getting a little sick of reading it, but it always makes me smile because acting out the book delights her so much.

One of the best baby books out there! Everyone loves reading this to our kids when they come over. It is cute, interactive, and fun. I basically have it memorized but I am not sick of it yet. Great for practicing B sounds as many of the pictured items in the book start with B.

We initially checked this out at the library and our 10 month old loved it! Went straight to Amazon when it was due back.

We first purchased this book when my daughter was about 8 months old. She loved it immediately and I credit it with teaching her to "clap, clap, clap". At 16 months she still loves it and can now anticipate each of the pages. She stands up to kiss us, lays down and sticks her feet in our face so we can nibble them, snuggles into our lap to bounce, etc. So adorable. I now have it memorized and we'll sometimes "play" the book when we're in a waiting room or other stuck situation without it. Can't recommend this enough!

This delightful book is my favorite of the board books for babies. Our granddaughter loved to climb in my lap with this book and would start clapping her hands even before the rhyme directed her to do it. It's written in a very fun cadence that allows plenty of opportunity for silly vocal inflection and "interpretation." It would usually end with her asking me to read it again. She's five years old now and has moved on in her literary interests, but every now and then we "get silly" and read our old friend, Baby Cakes. Fortunately for me, we have a new grand baby who will soon be the perfect age for this wonderful book.

W got this book from the library and then had to buy it. We sing it to the tune of patty cake. My daughter holds out her foot to be kissed, hides her eyes at peekaboo, and does the hugssotight self hug. It is pretty much the cutest thing ever. I would recommend this board book for even the youngest of babies.
My 2 yr old granddaughter had borrowed this book from the library and enjoyed it so much and was so devastated at having to return it, so i purchased it for her.

The rhyming is pleasant, the premise is pleasant. It makes you giggle and interact with the child. Although my granddaughter can only recognize a few letters she can "read" the entire book by herself now as she has it memorized. I reccomend this book. it is sturdy for little hands, illustrations are simple yet lovely, and it is interactive if you choose it to be!
