We love this series. Each book on CD is about 3 hours long and we love to listen to it on road trips! Humor, wit and interesting stories told by a fantastic storyteller! It's amazing how the author "does" all the character's voices! Would recommend it for kids and familes!

Our family has spent hours laughing at the antics of Hank and the "security services" on the ranch. Both the author and the illustrator are masters at observing human nature. We love these books because they make us laugh at ourselves. Older children will get too "cool" to think they are funny, but I'll bet they'll be laughing along in a few years.

I've been reading of the exploits of Hank the Cowdog since almost the beginning and for me these books just keep getting better and better. These books are now marketed as books for young people, i.e. children, but as I talk to different folks about them it becomes quite apparent, quite quickly, that Hank has an adult following just as large as his children's following...and rightfully so. Now I grant you that we live in a rural area so that may make a difference, but our city librarians will tell you that this is one of the most `checked-out" series on their shelves and there are more adults grabbing them than kids.

In this adventure the ranch garden is being invaded by what Hank instantly recognizes as a robot creature from outer space. Hank and his sidekick Drover begin their investigation because Hank knows, as Chief Security Officer on the ranch, and past `misunderstandings' with Sally Mae, just what she thinks of her garden being dug up and Hank knows how unjust the world is and how he is bound to be blamed.

All the regulars are in this one including Pete the cat and we are reintroduced to that funny and wise little owl...Madame Moonshine; and of course there is the robot! Can you spell armadillo? Surprise...Hank can't.

My favorite parts of these books are the conversations between Hank and Drover. The author has a wicked sense of humor and these little talks showcase this quite well.

This is a fun and fast read and I promise you that it, as are the other books, far, far better than anything you will see on T.V. these days.
