She kept falling for all the wrong men and looking past and through the one who loved her unconditionally. It was funny how Queenie subconsciously liked almost everything about Ray but her mouth denied liking the man. I would have like This was a good book, even though it was very slow to start.

Queenisha Renae Sutton is always ready, willing and able to walk away from any man who either can't or won't appreciate her, because after all, she is all woman. Determined to get her money's worth, she approaches their first date with one goal: to make Zeke her man, no matter what the cost. With the help of her best friend, Poetta, who puts a "voodoo hex" on Zeke to help lure him in, Queenisha gets more than she bargained for.
The High Price of a Good Man could have been tighter. My main problem with The High Price of A Good Man was that there were with a few sections where Phillips was too wordy with descriptions and details. But, when compiling the assets against the liabilities, the novel still emerges as an enchanting and delightful read. The characters were fully and well developed.

The High Window could be his best work. 3 people found this helpful. This book is also absent of the one problem that I have Chandler and that is his disconnection of information from novel to novel. Some of his stories never mention a single word about anyone or anything from his other books, however, in The High Window, I underlined five direct references to his other works.
Deborah Levy’s new novel opens in September 1988, when Saul Adler tries to cross that same zebra crossing. Although the book has received increased attention thanks to Hulu’s critically acclaimed TV adaptation, it’s all thanks to the fierceness of Atwood’s critical analysis of gender politics. In July 2016, he tries again. Her 1985 book, which imagines a near-future New England controlled by a totalitarian state, in which women are completely subjugated to men, has only become increasingly relevant – and prescient. Her work provides a continued reminder that it doesn’t take much for our world to slip into complete dystopia.

It was a boastful remark-of a kind he, and other similar young men, have the habit of making. But from him it did not sound boastful-simplya frank and timely expression of an indisputable truth, which indeed itwas. Once more Mr. Lockyer sighed.
