The moral right of the author has been asserted. Weddings are about tradition. ‘Even if tradition means tacky and predictable?’ Two big sins in my book. By definition,’ she defends. Then she leaps forward to jostle for a front position to catch the bouquet.

Game Over is a stand-alone novel by English author, Adele Parks. Be careful about picking this book up. It sounds much better in the blurb than the actual book is.

Adele Parks is the author of the London Times bestsellers Playing Away, Larger Than Life, and Game Over.

Her white coat is quite fetching but I know Issie is still looking for something more than a quick game of doctors and nurses. Fighting down the swell of irritation that washes over me when I see her tear-stained face. I’m annoyed at him for doing it to her. I’m annoyed at her for doing this to herself.

Cas Perry wants nothing to do with love -- her dad walking out on her mother was quite enough romantic drama, thank you very much. And why should she bother with relationships when she can manipulate just about any man for sex? The steely-hearted TV producer plays with other people's love lives and orchestrates unscripted fireworks on the edgy reality show Sex with an Ex -- a ratings blockbuster that is sending her already-hot career skyrocketing.

Cas is a successful TV executive whose job is to think up new reality shows. She has the mandatory best friends Josh and Issie, Josh being as cynical as she is towards love relationships, Issie being the big romantic.
Cas' new idea for a show is about testing the engaged couple's faithfulness. When a great candidate for the show turns down the opportunity to appear on TV, she decides to insist, in part because the candidate is hot.
It's hard to say anymore without spoiling the story, so I won't.
Just know that the ruthlessness of backstage TV is worth reading the novel in itself!
For the rest, it's definitely not your typical love story - as usual though with this type of book, my only complaint is with the ending (a bit predictable, a bit theatrical). Except for that I really enjoyed the whole story a lot.

Jocasta "Cas" Perry, a producer for an up and coming London network, she's been given the task of coming up with a program to boost ratings. Cocktails with friends results in a brilliant idea for a show - "Sex With an Ex," whereby about to be married couples have their relationship tested by temptation with a former lover. Her concept works a little too good, as ratings go through the roof. She meets a possible "ex" named Darren. He's intelligent, sexy, and very engaging, and she is very attracted, knowing that the entire English population will fall for him (thus a ratings bonanza). He declines the show citing that it's a blight on relationships and wants no part of it. To change his mind and chip away at his strong morals, she hangs out with him and his family for a few days, fighting her attraction to him. She'll leave no stone unturned in order to change his mind, and tells him so, but he stands his ground. No doubt about it - Darren is a dream come true; he's not afraid to show his feelings or stand up for what he believes in, including the happily ever after that Cas is so strongly opposed to. Suddenly, ice-hearted Cas is finding herself in unchartered territory - she's falling in love with Darren. Her reaction to their mutual feelings is what takes the rest of the story on a roller coaster ride, as she immediately reverts to her old, selfish ways, and is confronted with her past misdeeds in the most publically humiliating way.

"Game Over" is a interesting romantic comedy that also speaks volumes about back stabbers in the workplace and faith in the one you love. Although it's hard to find any redeeming qualities in Cas ("bag em; shag em; and send em packing"), if you stick with it, you'll be rewarded with a very fascinating story, as like the "Grinch," Cas' heart grows two sizes by the end. It's amazing that someone like him would even bother with a gal like her. She's constantly nasty to him - any other guy would just leave, not wanting to be just another notch on her bedpost. Be sure to also check out the author's notes in the back.

I found this book completely mesmerizing. I was immediately sucked into Cas's lifestyle as a successful executive television producer and her relationships with Issie and Josh. She lives what appears to be the perfect London socialite/successful business woman life, and yet her disappointing past clearly affects the happiness of her present. That's when she meets the devastingly sexy Darren and gets sucked in to his charm. He presents himself as the perfect man: respectful, caring, passionate, smart, and sexy. Best of all? He believes in the institution of marriage and true love. These characteristics are everything any woman has ever looked for in a man. Except Cas. From there readers are taken on a roller coaster ride of unexpected events and emotion overloads that will leave you breathless (as it left me!) I highly suggest reading this book. You won't regret it.

I love Adele Parks books. I can read them again and again. Great for on a sun-lounger by the pool!

Jocasta Perry is a female playboy. She adopts the "love 'em and leave 'em" attitude towards men, which seems to fit into her hectic and hip life as a TV producer in London. She comes up with a new reality show called "Sex with an Ex" and things take off. Then, she meets Darren Smith, who refuses to be a contestant on the show and her world is turned upside down. The girl who never gets attached finds herself in love, in denial, in pain, and finally, stabbed in the back by her production assistant in a plot involving Darren.

Cheesy - with a side of Velveeta to boot. Issie is predictable, Fiona is horrible, Bales is a stereotype, Darren is unrealistic and basically retarded to keep coming back. Josh is a puzzle turned pathetic with the whole marriage proposal and Cas is a true moron. 33 year olds have NO excuse to act the way she does. Not to mention the boring, descriptive pages on Whitby and the Museum. Garbage!!!!

I thought that this would be a good book. I WAS WRONG!! It is so horrible and boring that I couldnt get past the first 50 pages. The characters are dull and over done. The writer I THINK is trying too hard to make them cool. They just remind me of rip offs of other characters i have read about a thousand times before. I suggest that NO ONE waste their money on this book. And if this author has anymore books out then I dont think I would suggest buying them either. If they are anything like this piece of crap.

Reading the English original proved to be an excellent decision during a recent vacation. Adele Parks' writing style hooked me almost from the very beginning. Female infidelity, British's sarcasm, friendships, and the rat race topics kept me thoroughly entertained until I finished reading the last page. Cas Perry is an interesting character.
The beginning of this book was very slow and the ending ws predictable. The author spent too much time on the set up of the characters. There are only so many ways you can say someone is mean, and selfish. Once Darren was introduced the story got better.
