Having been fascinated with the Romanovs since I was a child, I was really into this book. Always thinking, wondering, and questioning while I was reading. And I am ready to read it again. It's such a tragic story and I kept thinking how much I wanted it to be true.

This book is a wonderful “what if” story. Written in the usual historical style which uses no wasted words, it tells the story of the rescue of the Russian royal family.

Captain John Neville, a British soldier, and his mixed team of fifteen men set out to rescue the Romanov family. With the aid of an assortment of characters, they set off with winter on its way.

Along the way, we get a hint of what the Russian countryside is like and the hardships the men had to overcome including fighting the Bolsheviks along the way.

This short novel has a satisfying conclusion. It is well written with an imaginative plot.

Thanking Netgalley and Endeavour Press for allowing me the permission to read this book.
