Unbroken Will describes the life and times of an ordinary man whose belief in God and in nonviolence stood the fiery test of Nazi persecution. I read this book last year and it is an extraordinary story of a courageous man who not only stood up for his principles, but gave a good witness to all those he came in contact with. All he needed to do to get out of prison was to sign a document saying that he would not practise the religion of Jehovah's Witness. Find out how a man who came to know Jehovah, the true God,would stand up to all those that would condemn him, beat him and persecute him all for the sake of Jehovah.

This was ordered May 21. Today is June 5th and still not shipped! If it wasn't in stock, the product should be removed from purchasing options. Ever dealt with these people? Save your frustrations and go a different route. If I ran shop like this, I would be unemployed.

What the other reviewers here have written is very true.

This man is a true hero and his story deserves to be widely known.

His courage in the face of the most wicked and evil face of man is inspiring for all of us, regardless of our beliefs.

However, if you buy the book here you will pay a lot more than it is currently selling for at the related website.

Just Google the Arnold Liebster Foundation where you can buy it for the original price of $20 as I did.

Mr Rammerstorfer, I salute you! Thank you for having the courage to do all it took to reveal the truth about the life of this brave and good man, Leopold Engleitner.

For all the world has to say about tolerance and peace, no many people are willing to get down to the nitty gritty of what creates wars and what it requires of each individual to avoid becoming involved in war. Through this very detailed and honest account, the author has bought to light the issues facing every human being. I cannot do better but quote the author himself when he says: "Leopold Engleitner overcame all adversity as an example of how a positive outlook and zest for life can be maintained even in the face of the most appalling experiences.... His impressive character and courage make him a member of society worthy of emulation." Like thousands of other Jehovah's Witnesses, Leopold Engleitner followed the Bible's command to love his neighbour and even his enemies and not kill them. And he was willing to suffer the most extreme treatment, even death, in order to remain faithful to God. Except that he survived! Beautiful also is the story of the friendship of between the author and Loepold Englietner in his old age, and how Mr Rammerstorfer brought comfort and joy to him and managed to get some recognition and compensation for him so many years after the events occurred.

Although the story is extremely sad, it is heartwarming to read and leaves one with a sense that justice and truth will ultimately prevail.

Faith, courage, honor - that is the essence of Unbroken Will. In the face of the worst brutality of the Nazi Third Reich, Leopold Engleitner kept his faith and principles intact. His experiences are accompanied by wit, a strongly positive view of his fellow man and even a sense of humor which win any reader over to love this powerful yet gentle man.

Bernhard Rammerstorfer's biography is painstakingly and thoroughly researched to bring to light some otherwise unknown facts of history. Why would Himmler plan the release from camps of prisoners he had hitherto relentlessly tried to break of their allegiance to their God, Jehovah - a stand that was perceived as a serious threat to Nazi ideology? Rammerstorfer reveals a surprising secret found in Himmler's correspondence.

Leopold Engleitner is one of the most compelling heroes of the concentration camps, and his story is a remarkable episode of bravery.

Unbroken Will is best read in conjuction with viewing the documentary film of the same title available as a DVD. To see the actual character is very moving and rounds out the account.

This story must be read.
Very Old Chap
When Leopold Engleitner was released from the concentration camp in which he was interred he weighed 54 pounds, his body was covered with sores from the crown of his head to the soles of his feet, his scalp was half eaten off by lice, and, most importantly, he was as determined to keep his integrity as the day he entered the camp. How? How is it possible that the entire weight of the Nazi state being brought to bear on this humble farmer from Austria did not break him? That is the story that is told with such fidelity in the pages of "Unbroken Will".

Leopold Engleitner's story almost passed into history without ever being told. This humble man, through a chance encounter with an author in a park, BEGAN this journey of sharing his story in his late 90's. It is a good thing this ordinary man has an extraordinary lifespan, since our world would be certainly be the poorer if this man went unnoticed. He has now traveled the world and shared his experiences with countless people - university students, the Sioux nation, heads of state, parliaments - all AFTER he turned the century mark.

Here is the story of a man who could have escaped the most horrific treatment of his life with a simple signature on a piece of paper. This treatment was reserved for Jehovah's witnesses only. Yet, that signature would have represented a repudiation of everything that he held dear. What would you do? What would I do? For that matter, what are you doing now to resist the evil in this world? Here is an example of a real follower of Christ's teachings, one who stood firm while all other religions played the harlot to the Nazi regime. Yes, on the outside Leopold Engleitner may have appeared an ordinary man, but what his experience proves is that no person who truly applies the teachings of Christ is ordinary in this world.

The title speaks for itself. Such an encouraging story of one who stood up to those in opposition of God's love. What a testament.
The rest of us have it good.
